I saw this agave, or century plant, on my walk earlier this week. The bloom stalk is pretty spectacular. Despite the name, the plants actually live about 10 years. Now that it’s bloomed, it will die, but it will produce offsets at the base.

Continue reading →: Garden TimeEven though I have two recipe posts in progress, I really wanted to share some of the photos that I took At Mounts Botanical Garden this morning. I haven’t been in the garden since spring; Florida summers are not the time to be in that environment. Even today, a mosquito…

Continue reading →: Right Meal, Right TimeAs a master gardener, even though I’m no longer active in the program, I often heard the mantra, “right plant, right place.” Saturday’s dinner was the culinary equivalent. We participated in a No Kings demonstration in Palm Beach Gardens. It was a great morning. We ran into one of my…

Continue reading →: Smells Like MemoriesAs a musician, I know how particular pieces of music can trigger memories. So can particular odors. The smells emanating from my oven definitely triggered some great childhood memories on Saturday. Continue reading →: My Night Off
I’ve talked before about how Ken came to be the Tuesday night chef, so the fact that he cooked dinner isn’t unusual. The fact that I made no contribution at all, though, is definitely uncommon. I got so lazy that I forgot that I wanted to get a picture of…

Although I can still sing the theme song to the animated 60s cartoon, Super Chicken, what I’m referring to is the chicken dish I made last evening. It was a new recipe, without doubt the best new chicken dish I’ve made in a while. I had printed out the recipe…
