My friend Mary and I are not at all like the women who are described in the song The Ladies Who Lunch. We are just two good friends who enjoy eating good food and good conversation.

We haven’t done well at coordinating our schedules these past few months, but we put everything aside to get together yesterday at Seasons 52. It’s always been one of my favorite restaurants, and while Ken and I enjoy sitting outdoors on the water, it was just too hot, especially since it was threatening to rain. In fact, I’m not sure I saw anyone dining on the terrace.

There are a number of items on the menu that I enjoy, but my favorite is the Maui tuna crunch salad. The tuna is always seared perfectly. Along with mixed greens, there’s grilled pineapple, red pepper, watermelon daikon radish, and I would swear there was some mango. Slivered almonds and a subtle sesame dressing make this a delicious and filling lunch.

Mary chose seared scallops, which she said were cooked perfectly. They came with asparagus, and Mary added a truffle risotto to her order. She had enough left to take home for another meal.

Yes, we had wine, too 😊

Mary decided that we were celebrating my Freshly Pressed post—she was a part of the old flash mob dining group and one of the first subscribers to this blog—and that meant having a glass of wine, too.

It’s always wonderful to get together with friends, especially over food. Our lunch was a reminder that we should never be too busy to spend time with people we care about.
