When I hear the phrase fresh pressed, my first thought is that we’re talking about olive oil. In WordPress speak, however, freshly pressed refers to a showcase of selected blog posts, and one of mine has been selected!

When I opened my email this morning, I was overwhelmed by WP notifications of people liking my post, Warding Off Vampires, where I talked about garlic and shared the chicken fajita pasta recipe. Buried among the emails was the one pictured above. That was a delightful way to start the day.
Honestly, I’m shocked. As I’ve said before, I started writing this for the friends who had been part of our church’s Covid-era dining newsletter, and mostly because I missed writing that newsletter. I figured I would be like the Sirius/XM host of the Saturday morning Baroque music program who refers to his “seven loyal listeners.” I’m surprised how this has grown. Just yesterday, in fact, I looked at the list of subscribers, something I probably haven’t done in a year. It’s definitely more than seven 😄
With the trip and surgery over the past few weeks, I missed marking the second anniversary of this blog. Thanks to all of you who read, comment, and encourage me. I didn’t realize when I started what a true community the WordPress family is. I understand now, and I appreciate you all.
I promise some new recipes coming up. Now, though, I need to press some lemons; lemon juice is key to tonight’s dinner. Happy eating!
