Photo Friday

Tea with a view

I wasn’t sure what photo I would use for today’s post, since our week has been kind of topsy-turvy. Ken had an early doctor’s appointment on Monday, so no time for a walk. We woke up Tuesday morning to discover that our air conditioner wasn’t cooling, so we spent the morning waiting for the technician. He was able to get the AC working, but it needed a part. Fortunately, they were able to install the new evaporator coil Wednesday morning, but that meant another day without a walk. It’s a long way of saying that it has been a no pictures week.

This morning, though, this picture popped up in my Facebook memories, and took me back to a wonderful moment. We were in England in August 2017, on a tour based in Exmoor National Park in Somerset. We were pretty literally in the middle of nowhere. It was our free day, and we walked on our own to the village of Selworthy, where we enjoyed tea on the lawn. It’s one of those English villages that was built for the workers on the estate. There are no shops, aside from the tea shop, just houses and a church. It was so peaceful that I really didn’t want to leave. That walk was also quite an accomplishment for us, since we managed to get from the country house where we were staying (the old manor house) to the village without getting lost. Our previous self-guided walk in the Peak District had turned a 2 mile trail into 7 miles, so this tea was a definite celebration.
