It’s not my intention to make those of you who are still experiencing cold weather or who are far from a coast, but I have to share some pictures I took this morning, as we walked on the beach at Vero Beach. We don’t really need to drive 80 miles to the beach, but Vero is a special place for us. When Ken and I first moved to Florida and lived in Homestead, south of Miami, Vero is where we would go for a short beach getaway.

We could not have picked a more perfect day to walk the beach. It was sunny and warm, and while the beach has definitely experienced erosion, there were signs of beach replenishment at the public beach we visited. We also saw equipment adding sand to build up the dunes south of the park.

We enjoyed all the birds.

Of course, part of the reason for the drive to Vero Beach was an opportunity for a special lunch. And this meal was special enough to deserve its own post 😄

😢😩 Awww, I am so there! Can imagine the feel of the sand between my toes at the surf line…that turquoise water…

Love that area… is it still unspoiled?

It’s not “Zero Beach” anymore, but it’s still pretty laid back. There are more beachfront condos than I wish, but it reminds me of how Sanibel Island has approached development. No high rises. An absolutely perfect beach morning…
