This week has been incredibly busy, and while I want to post about the recipe I cooked last night, it’s just going to have to wait. I can’t let the day close, though, without celebrating all the things for which I’m thankful.

I want to say thank you to all my readers. Some of you are “in-person” friends, while others of you are friends I have made through our online connection. As I’ve said before, the unexpected benefit of blogging is the connections that I’ve made since I started this endeavor.

I’m so thankful for spending time with family, especially my grandchildren. Somehow, I missed getting a picture of them together today. Thanksgiving is the one time of year that our entire family is together, and it’s been a special time.

I’m particularly thankful for how everyone participated in putting our holiday dinner together. Ken made the stuffing—our traditional Pennsylvania Dutch mashed potato recipe. Ben provided green beans with sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions, plus a really interesting sweet potato dish that was both sweet and spicy. Alice helped make the gravy and provided extra hands for whatever we needed. And Annie outdid herself with desserts this year. In addition to a pumpkin roll, she made apple pie cookies, essentially cookie-size pies, plus Swedish gingerbread cookies that are a tradition in her family. She had a couple of other types of cookies, too, and fruit to dip into chocolate hummus.

The dessert board was attacked before I could get a photo!

Thanksgiving tradition in our family includes a family jam session, always one of my favorite parts of the day.

Gratitude obviously isn’t limited to one day, but having a day to focus on that for which we are grateful, and the opportunity to spend that day with the people who top the gratitude list is indeed something to celebrate. I hope that your day has been as enjoyable and meaningful.

Lynn, what a great post. I saw Luke in the other picture, making the stew… you can make him your sous chef! What a couple of cuties.

Love ❤️ the family jam session!! My nephew owns a School of Rock and when he showed it to us, after hours, we had an impromptu jam. I play acoustic guitar, but he handed me this electric one and wow! (windmilling rock star air guitar 😂) the power of that thing! So much fun.

Looking forward to more cool recipes/back stories in Dec! 😎🎄

Thanks! Having Luke here for most of the week was a blast, and, as I get older, I really treasure the times we’re all together. But I have to admit, Ken and I are also happy to have the house to ourselves today.

More recipes and stories on the way! And you know I always enjoy your posts about life in South Florida before it was paved over😊
