Food, Glorious Food

Where would you go on a shopping spree?

Pike Place Market, Seattle

If I could go on a shopping spree, ideally it would be some place with plenty of food. So a public market or food hall would be my idea of shopping heaven.

We have been to the Pike Place Market in Seattle, and it’s overwhelming. In addition to so many beautiful fresh fruits and vegetables, the seafood at that market is a scene stealer. The Dungeness crabs were huge! Of course, part of the fun at Pike Place is watching the fishmongers throwing large fish over the counter. But there’s so much else beyond food. I remember a shop selling just Polish pottery, which I love. I think Ken had to drag me out of there😄

Lancaster, PA Central Market

When we visited the Central Market in Lancaster, PA, there were so many options, both food and Amish crafts. I came home with some beautiful quilted squares; flying home and thinking about what I could pack kept me from buying things like apple butter, one of my childhood favorites. The cured meats were calling me, too. And someday I’d love to visit Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia.

We don’t have anything similar near us, which is probably good for my bank account!

yes! Reading Terminal is worth the visit! We haven’t been there in years but one of our sons and family were just there last weekend as part of a Philly weekend visit and they loved it. Lancaster central market is also good.

Lynn – Pikes Places is amazing – son, Joshua lived just outside of Seattle. If I lived in the area – such fun I would have. That said – PBC has wonderful Green Markets – a tiny bit of what Pikes Place is like. Mary
