If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
It’s easy, when there’s only two weeks left of hurricane season and there’s another storm in the gulf, to say, “I wish I lived somewhere else.” Honestly, there are any number of reasons to not like living in South Florida, which I’m not going to discuss so as not to raise my blood pressure by thinking about them.

And yet, I don’t think I’d choose anywhere else to live. Of course, the most important reason is that our family is close. Our daughter and grandson are only a half hour away, and it’s a three hour drive to our son and his family. But it’s also that there is so much beauty here, even if at times you have to look for it. As a plant person, I love the diversity of plant life and that there are flowers of some sort year round. I took things picture earlier today of a zebra longwing butterfly on lantana and plumbago in our neighbor’s yard.

And although I miss easy access to the mountains, there is always the beach.

There is, however, one other location where part of my heart remains, and that’s Prague. It’s over 30 years ago since we lived there, and, given that it was shortly after the Velvet Revolution, life wasn’t always easy. But it was a special time. Ken and I have only been back once, but it felt as if we’d never left. So perhaps when I say that this home, and it’s where I want to live, I should add an asterisk!
