Continue reading →: But I’m Already Married!
I’m always leery of recipes that “take the internet by storm.” So, while I was intrigued by the name of the dish called Marry Me Chicken, I hadn’t seriously considered making the dish. But the variation I tried has made me a believer. The original dish was developed for the…

Colville’s glory, the common name for Colvillea racemosa, was in full bloom when I was at the botanical garden last Saturday. There’s no missing it if you’re anywhere near. It’s a native of Madagascar, and the tree is about 40 feet tall. It’s a favorite of the bees, too.

Continue reading →: Smells Like MemoriesAs a musician, I know how particular pieces of music can trigger memories. So can particular odors. The smells emanating from my oven definitely triggered some great childhood memories on Saturday. When I was a kid growing up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, I associated Moravian sugar cake with Christmas. Bethlehem is…

From this morning’s walk, a limpkin that didn’t fly away before I could get my phone out. It’s one of Florida’s rarer birds, and is a protected species. However, they’re not an uncommon sight on our walks. And once you hear their loud call you never forget it.
