I haven’t been walking this week, as my back issues have flared up badly in the past couple of weeks. But this photo popped up in my Facebook memories recently, reminding me of our last trip to Key West, in December 2017. It was only three months after Hurricane Irma had decimated the Keys, and we passed mountains of debris on our drive down the Overseas Highway. Key West itself was cleaned up and open for business. A short walk from our hotel was the beautiful garden at Fort West Martello, maintained by the Key West Garden Club. The garden is in the ruins of a Civil War-era fort. That’s where I snapped this photo, one of my favorites.
