It’s Tea Time

What is your favorite drink?

The remains of today’s pitcher of ice tea

There are several beverages that I could name as a favorite, depending on when you ask me the question, but what I love to drink daily is ice tea.

I don’t drink just any glass of ice tea, though. It has to be decaffeinated or herbal, and it must be unsweetened. I may have lived in the south for almost 50 years, but I have never developed a taste for sweet tea.

We brew a pitcher of tea for ice tea almost every day. I’ll usually combine decaf black tea bags with hibiscus-based herbal teas. (I’m not crazy about chamomile, and a lot of herbal tea blends include it.). My favorite herbal teas to use this way are Tazo’s Passion or hibiscus blueberry from The Republic of Tea. In the fall, Republic of Tea has some particularly good seasonal apple flavored herbal teas, and their cranberry hibiscus is something I look forward to each holiday season.

Pretty much every afternoon, you will find me with my Kindle or a book and my glass of tea. If we’re watching sports or streaming a Great Courses lecture, there’s a glass of tea at my side, too.

It is most definitely tea time 😄
